5th choice for English?

I have already submitted my 4 choices: Cambridge, UCL, Bristol, Exeter. I'm torn between Durham and KCL for my 5th one.

KCL is good because it's in London (location is easier), I like the links its has to institutions like the globe and the bfi but Durham seems more rigourous and is higher in the league tables. I resistant to apply because of location though.

For reference my UCAS grades are 4 A*s

Hi! Given that this is your fifth choice, you're probably quite unlikely to go there? I'm imagining you meet the offer requirements for your other 4 choices, and have chosen them because you're enthusiastic abou the course and/or location. To me reading your list it seems like Durham would be quite an odd one out location-wise. Even if the course is higher in the league tables you have to live there for minimum 3 years. The most important thing is how well you do, not how highly the course is ranked. I would advise to choose somewhere you think you will enjoy living so that you can focus on studying and other things. Good luck with your application!

Have you looked at the course content - the optional units available at each Uni? Look at the specific options for all years of each course - and think about what you would actually choose if you went there. Not all courses are the same.

This what you will be studying every day for three years - not 'the Uni' or 'the league table'. It doesn't matter how nice the location or the Uni buildings are, if you don't actually enjoy the course its going to be a very miserable three years.
