failed my final maths test before my predicted grades - what should i do?

i get my predicted grades in november, which are largely based off my EOYs last year, but also on tests this term. last year (yr10) i got a 6 in maths (50% and 48%) but throughout y10 i was getting 8s and 9s. This term, the first, and only test i did, i messed up big time getting 35/50 (i missed something on the revision list) which was a 6 because the grade boundaries were harsh. I am terrified that this means i will be predicted a 6 for my gcses even tho i know i can achieve a 9 easily with more practice. usually id be ok with a 6 because i dont want to do maths, i want to do humanities for a level, but i am trying to get a scholarship to my schools private sixthform which they award in december, but i dont think i will get it with a 6 in maths even tho im basically straight 9s other than that and physics/chem. what should i do? should i talk to my teacher? admit defeat?

Talk to your teacher. You could suggest re-sitting or meeting a target which they set in order to boost your predicted grade. You need to make sure youre revising maths from now on though if you want to do well in the actual exams because a 6 with revision isnt the ability i would expect from a student who will end up with an 8 or 9 unless they put in a lot of effort.

ok sounds like good ideas. ive arranged a meeting with my teacher and just on your final point, in year 10 with an average amount of revision, i was getting top band grades, meaning i am in top set. in the EOY, i just crumpled under pressure and a lack of revision, and in my most recent test i simply missed out a part of a topic which ended up being crucial in the exam. thank you for your response!
