University of Cambridge MPhil in Real Estate Finance Thread 2026

Heyyy
I created that thread for everyone who wants to introduce themselves with their profile, seeking for some infos and insights about the MPhil in REF concerning the application proccess and how it comes for the others! Let me introduce myself first:

Prospective course: MPhil in Finance & MPhil in REF
Achieved (or expected) grade: 4.0/4.0 GPA
Current university: Sungkyunkwan University
Current course: Global Business Administration
College preferences: Pembroke as first choice and Girton as second
When did your application was fully sent?: 27th September
GMAT FE / GRE Score: 595 on GMAT FE (it is very bad I know..)
Extracurricular Activities and Career: I was the Founder and President of the Student Union and of the first International Finance Club, Vice President of the International Society, had an internship in an asset managers as a product specialist for RE equity funds between 1 to 6bn€ AUM.

I am currently under review by department and I don't really know when I will receive any kind of response by the Land Economy Department, does someone has any ideas / past infos?

I've also just spent a month at Girton College, Cambridge as part of an Economics Summer Programme, explaining why I decided to put it as a second choice for my colleges.

I heard that they haven't started looking at the applications yey because term just started so they will look at them next week. I heard that the university policy is 8 to 12 weeks but from what I saw, for the REF, it could be quicker (compared to the awful MPhil in Finance in which even if you applied in September, you can still receive it in February/March..)

Wow impressive background, I even feel small compared to yours ahah.
You're welcome for this thread, hope we will have more applicants and will be able to share more informations!

By the way, why did you speak about a certain deadline on the 29th of October?

Thanks, really keeping my fingers crossed and feeling the pressure right now before sending the application tomorrow, tho, haha. I'm certain your credentials also stand a strong chance!

I read in a thread from last year that they review applications on an ongoing basis (based on the EAMC meetings; https://www.cambridgestudents.cam.ac.uk/exams/eamc/meeting-dates). Their next meeting is on the 14th of November, and a Midday submission is required by the 29th of October.

What's the status on your application so far?

Thanks, I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!
My application's status is still "Under review by department - Your application is currently under review." since I've submitted it on the 22nd of September and the referees completed it on the 27th of the same month.

Thanks! No worries - went to a top university in my country (1st), interned at Goldman Sachs and a global PE firm. Real estate coverage at both.

Fingers crossed for you too! Looking at last year’s posts, timing definitely differed across apps.

That is actually impressive, my only flex is my dual degree and the fact that I intern at AXAIM in their Real Estate Equity funds (biggest in EU). So I am starting to stress a little bit, given the fact that I still didn't receive anything yet. Finger crossed!

Heyy! Thank you!
Yep, I already got assigned to Pembroke College, still waiting for some offers to come but I think I am quite close to accept it. Congrats for the DP!!!

Which colleges did you apply to and can you maybe speak more about your profile, like uni or previous internships?

Hi Skynsou, I haven't received a DP yet, my application is still going under department review!
Noted, Pembroke is a very great community as far from what I know!

Here's sth about me )
Profile: final-year Econ student from University College London
Internships: 4 internships (2 local boutiques investment banking, 1 buyside RE).
Grade: top 1% in cohort
College: Downing (1st) and Queen (2nd)

Hi everyone, I just submitted my application for the MPhil in Finance and wanted to share my profile and connect with others going through the process.

Final-year BSc International Business Administration student at Tilburg University

GPA 8.95/10, ranked top 3/500+ (top of class in all quantitative courses)

Corporate Finance internship at a multinational firm

Strong exposure to corporate finance through extracurriculars, investment societies, and personal research interests in governance and activist ownership

I also submitted an optional research proposal on activist hedge funds and investment efficiency; I really enjoyed working on it and wanted my application to reflect that

I know this thread isn’t specifically for the MPhil Finance, but it’s always motivating to see others share their journeys. Happy to exchange insights, experiences, and support with anyone applying this year.
My college preferences were Trinity and Corpus Christi.
Good luck to everyone, and wishing you all the best with decisions ahead!

Hey!
I did because I had previously a research idea before doing my actual one in market finance, which was about Real Estate.
I heard that actually a lot of students get in without submitting this from previous thread so you're fine dw!

Oh, that’s good to hear ! I also noticed that in some of their other courses, like the MPhil in Development Studies, students are required to submit a mandatory research proposal. However, in our program that isn’t the case. Instead, we place greater emphasis on the Statement of Interest which is (5000 characters), which is effectively doubled in importance compared to theirs.

“Heyyy, massive congrats—that’s amazing news! Was it an unconditional offer or a conditional one? I didn’t realise they couldactually assign you to a college before giving the offer, that’s great!
