Educational Psychology Doctorate

Hi,
I have recently graduated with a 2:1 undergraduate psychology and I have been looking at my options of where to go from here and I'm really interested in educational psychology. I'm aware that the doctorates are obviously really competitive and hard to get onto, but i'm wondering what might be my next best option.

I already have previous experience working with children volunteering at a dance school and chaperoning shows, but I am considering whether to go down the route of a teaching assistant/ apply for teacher training as many people on these doctorates are teachers - in which case would it be better to do primary or secondary teaching? or whether to do something like speech language therapy, which would also give me experience working with children but also a range of ages.
Alternatively, would a masters help in this process as well? I don't plan on applying for the doctorate immediately as I oviously need more experience, but i'm just not sure what route might be the best to eventually get to this.

People get on as TAs or teachers. Increasingly they are also Assistant EPs but that requires experience to get a job. If you do decide to teach, it doesn't matter whether primary or secondary. Being a SALT first isn't unheard of but it's uncommon

You don't need a masters
