i absolutely despise war photographer and the prelude. war photographer is soo boring and the prelude is a horrible poem to write about. in 2 yrs time im gonna realise how stupid it is to write an essay on a poem about some kid who got scared of a mountain like-

Also, how often do you do past papers for English Language, Literature and History? I try my best to get it done within a few hours but end up taking a few days or a week!

i dont do english lang since i do that in yr 11 but for literature im still learning the poems in class so i simultaneously focus on paper 1 (acc and macbeth) i havent actually done past papers yet but i chat gpt questions to do and then write the essay. smth i do is i get my brother to read them and give me feedback instead of asking my teacher bc i cba at skl lol. for history im learning nazi germany then i have to do cold war after christmas i think. but ive already learnt medicine and henry viii so i do some 12 markers/ sources in my free time.
hope that helps!

DESERTS LAMDA SPEECH (tbf i might use this for my english language spoken exam hehe :p: )

What do flaky croissants in Paris, a chewy mochi in Tokyo, and a creamy tiramisu in Rome all have in common? They speak the same language - the language of dessert. Sweet, indulgent and unforgettable.

Around the globe, desserts have a way of reflecting the culture it comes from. In the Middle East, baklava and turkish delights flavour the mouths of not just natives but tourists as well. In South Asia, gulab jamun and jalebi shine with their syrup-soaked sweetness, often enjoyed during festivals. Spain and Portugal introduced churros, a fried dough now beloved across Latin America, while cheesecakes were first made in ancient Greece, and have taken on global variations from New York’s dense, creamy style to Japan’s fluffy version. Each dessert, whether flaky, creamy, or syrupy, carries the flavors of its homeland while finding new fans far beyond its borders.

But why do desserts make us feel so good? It’s not just nostalgia or celebration—it’s neuroscience. When we consume sugar-rich foods like cakes or pastries, our brains release dopamine, which can trigger feelings of pleasure and reward. This is why a bite of chocolate doesn’t just taste amazing, but it feels amazing.

On the other hand (or slice!), many sweet treats are high in sugar and calories, leading to health issues if overconsumed. That innocent-looking ice cream cone? It can pack around 250 calories, and regular indulgence without balance can tip the scales - literally. Excessive sugar intake has been linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other health issues.

Desserts linger in memory long after the last bite. They mark moments—birthdays crowned with cake, heartbreaks softened by chocolate, festivals glowing with syrup-soaked sweets. But it’s not just the taste; it’s the emotion baked into each layer. The scent of cinnamon might recall a winter holiday, while the crunch of a biscuit base might echo a childhood kitchen. Psychologists suggest that sensory-rich experiences, like eating desserts, are more likely to be encoded into long-term memory. That’s why a single spoonful of tiramisu can feel like déjà vu—because desserts don’t just feed us, they archive us.

In conclusion, desserts are more than food - they are memory, culture and chemistry wrapped in sweetness. Even Gordon Ramsay calls desserts the last impression. They’re not just sweet, they're signature. Whether it's flaky, chewy, or creamy, they remind us that joy can be simple, shared and savoured.

done yay!!!! time to do biology
