Brighton College 16+ entrance exam (today!)

Hi everyone! I'm doing my Brighton college entrance exam today, and from what i've seen from the other posts on this platform, it seems as if there ware different procedures for international and local UK students, which gets me a bit confused on what I'm supposed to be expecting or looking out for... I'm currently an international student studying in singapore, taking A-lvl subjects of math, further maths, chemistry, and physics. I've applied for westminister, wellington, brighton, sevenoaks, and winchester, and I'm really scared about how the general paper will really look like, because their definition of scientific reasoning is a bit confusing for me

Please, if anyone can help me out with what to expect on the entrance exam, and how worried I should exactly be (not too worried about maths as i've finished half of a-lvl subjects already), and how the general and english paper will look like, that would be incredibly helpful and amazing, tysm!

I'd never seen anything quite like the general paper, it was interesting.. which topics did you pick? I can't find anyone else who also did the exam on that day so i'm happy ive finally met someone!

Hey!, I did my entrance exam internationally (overseas), yesterday and it was relatively easy. The structure of the math questions is a bit confusing. in the general paper, it basically covers basic gcse topics to see if you have a strong understanding of them. e.g., for chem, calculate the relative formula mass, so i think there's not much to worry abt. For the English part, they basically ask you to debate on an ethical dilemma to see if u have critical thinking (I'm guessing most of us do), so there's not much to worry abt there either. Hoped this helped, Good Luck in ur exams!

Hi! Sorry didn’t check this post for a few days; the maths was relatively fine for me, and English was a bit suprising, considering I was prepared for some long analysis and contextual questions, and got a bunch of grammar corrections instead haha… for general, I would say I probably got above 90% for both? But the fact that physics didn’t have a formula sheet was a bit annoying, and chemistry was quite ok

Hi! So I did physics and chem for the general paper, and for me it wasn’t really BAD, but I can’t say for sure if I got full marks. I would say I was a bit unprepared for English because I fully assumed for there to be reading comprehension, and the fact that it was just grammar and writing was a bit annoying… the general paper was a bit Intresting, kind of like my usual Econs and geography graph analysis essays, so hopefully it goes well for you too!!

hiii. i also did the test today, chem it wasn't too hard, still gcse content but you have to apply it in unexpected ways. there were some questions on balancing equations and calculations, and a longer question i think. good luck!

for english, mainly just revise argumentative essays, and for maths, considering it wasn't so hard for me, I would say just to do past gcse-quetions for the last few, and focus on mental calculation for the first few questions!

80% should be quite stable, and the offers should be out by end of november (speaking of offers, does anyone know whether the offers will be conditional or no?)
