Oxford Interview Prep

What is the best advice to do really well in an Oxford Interview?. In my mind, it seems very nerve-racking and how do you settle your never and say the right thing if you don't know how to answer a question?

Something you want to keep in mind when doing interviews is what exactly they look for. They're not always looking for the right answer and for you to nail every question, but rather if your thought process in getting to an answer is organic, logical, and if they see that you will very clearly benefit from being put through Oxford's curriculum. The key is to show passion, break down things into smaller steps, and verbalize your thoughts, even if you don't think they're necessarily correct.

They know you're nervous! They don't expect perfection! Before, read a lot, think a lot. Listen super carefully to the questions. Take a sec before you answer. Don't be afraid to say you've made a mistake if you start down a dead end. Try not to BS - Oxford Dons all got big-ass BS detectors!

I had my interviews two years ago in December. All a bit of a blur in memory now. First one went badly, I thought, second one OK. I got in.

Practice thinking out loud. Pick a topic in history and explain it in simple terms to a teacher, friends, family etc. Why do you find it interesting, what was the significance of the event, how did it change peoples lives. The tutors will be more interested in your thoughts, logical reasoning and your ability to develop arguments.
