Durham Politics & IR

Hello,

I’m a student in Year 13 applying to Durham university for politics and international relations. My A level UCAS grades are A*A*A*, in RS, English literature, and English language, and I’m completing an EPQ based on the electoral college in America (which we haven’t been given a predicted grade for.) My GCSEs are 9988776665- the higher grades all in English literature, language, RS, humanities basically, and the lower in separate sciences, maths, ect.

So far I’ve received an offer from Warwick and York, but Durham is honestly my favourite.

Can anyone tell me if I have a realistic chance of getting in?

Hello, Durham looks at each applicant as an individual, considering grades but also other factors such your personal statement and references. I have a link to the entry requirements for your course here. You are on track to get the A-level requirements which is fantastic just make sure you focus on the other criteria too.

Fingers crossed for the offer! Good luck!

Hi there,

Congratulations on the offers you have received💫

As a Politics, Philosophy and Economics student at the University of York, I just wanted to share that Politics here has become my absolute favourite part of the degree. When I first started, I thought I’d be more focused on the Economics side, but there’s something about the way Politics is taught at York that keeps drawing me in, and I always end up choosing more Politics modules!
The Department of Politics and International Relations offers a great mix of global and theoretical perspectives, and the teaching staff is genuinely passionate about what they do. They offer a wide range of modules that cover different dimensions of the subject, and honestly, choosing between them each year is such a task as they all look so interesting. The teaching staff is incredibly approachable and interactive, and they not only guide you through the course content but also share valuable insights that really help when thinking about future career paths. In my experience, anyone choosing to study Politics and International Relations at York will truly have an amazing experience.

All the best for your application process
