Is there any grants/bursary if unable to work part time along side degree (year 1)

I am a Mature student, with children. In year 2 and 3 due to placements, we receive a bursary on top of Student Finance to cover the short fall with not being able to do paid work. However year 1 you only get the allowances you are entitled to through SfE.
I am a single parent and due to having adhd, i feel as though working part time this year in a job just for the sake of it, will end up effecting my studying as the days I am not in university i was hoping for them to be used to complete my course work but usually you would be expected to work those days and I have no support for childcare at weekends to get a part time job then either. I have had the DSA granted for the tech support but am wondering if there is anywhere I could look into finacial grants for this year? I have looked online but they only seem to be available to people on specific courses or if you or a family member worked in a certain industry. thank you

Hi Hayleylou258,

You could apply for the special support element f the Maintenance Loan if you are in receipt of PIP and is up to the amount of £4461. You would just need to upload a coy of your letter that shows you are in receipt of PIP throughout your course year with a cover letter stating that you wish to apply for the Special Support Loan.
