Year 11 & 12s — how are you choosing your A-levels right now?

Do you think about what subjects keep your options open for uni or careers later on?

HI @gagym123 i think a lot of people pick their a-levels based on what sort of career path they see for themselves, and some people know exactly what they want to be and what degree they are going to do. However, a lot of people also have no idea as you are 15/16 years old and it's a big decision to make. I myself chose science based alevels and ended up wanting to do an art degree. I had to do an art foundation to get onto my degree since my a-levels were not relevant but that was the best thing for me and i don't regret what i chose as i was 15 haha. If you know exactly what kind of degree you want to do already you could find out what sort of a-levels they accept or prefer and choose accordingly. However, if you make any mistakes in choosing i wouldn't worry to much as you can transfer a-levels quite early on if you really don't like one of your choices. Personally my advice is to choose up to two a-levels that will definitely get you onto the degree you want, and then choose an a-level you simply enjoy, as that can be a bit of a fun and respite from the other two if they are particulary challenging.

Hope this helps,
