The Career Centre Kingston University

Hi everyone,

As the Career Centre at Kingston is one of the facilities I find myself using a lot, I thought I would share an overview of what it is and its benefits for those wanting to find out more.

The Career Centre offers support for all stages of employability, a facility that can be used by both current students and graduates.

Where? It is based at the Penrhyn Road (10am 5pm) and Kingston Hill (10am - 2pm) campuses, however the team also offer drop in sessions throughout the week at the other 2 campuses.

Current drop in session timetable:

Knights Park Tuesdays 12-2pm

Roehampton Vale - Wednesday s 12-2pm

There are also the online platforms Career Zone and Handshake.

Career Centre Both walk-in and appointment bookings are available. Services include, job search, CV reviews and building, interview preparation, mentoring, cover letters, LinkedIn reviews, career advice, career planning and more.

Career Zone This platform you can access using your student log in details. Online you can complete CV checks, get advice on CV and cover letter writing, job search, employer advice, interview advice, skills tests and more.

Handshake On this app/website you can book career advisor appointments, apply for jobs and find events.

Events The careers team put on a range of events such as career fairs where you can meet employers and find jobs in person.

Personally, I use the Career Zone and Career Centre the most for CV checks. The environment in the physical space at Penrhyn is always so welcoming and I leave with lots of great advice. Then if I just need to quickly check my CV, it checks it using the AI that lots of employers use to check them.

I hope this gives a quick insight and is useful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask 😊
