Manchester or Nottingham law?

I’m applying for law and want to choose between either Manchester or Nottingham

I think I want to go into corporate or employment law but I want to do further study after uni, and whether I go into legal industry might change during the course of me studying it
I prefer the course at nottingham and I love the campus, I also like the fact that they use tutorials which has been a motivation for some of my other choices, and i’ve heard it’s extremely well regarded amongst magic circle firms but since they dropped the LNAT requirement it’s been falling in terms of reputation.
I prefer manchester as a city and it’s better regarded generally than nottingham is.
I prefer the nottingham course but I don’t mind manchesters
In terms of the law school i’ve heard it’s well regarded, but less so than nottingham especially amongst firms in london.
Any advice or information would be appreciated!

Honestly I’d go to Nottingham, as the actual course is the reason you’re going to uni

Both universities are excellent.

Be careful of making your choice based on some anecdotal evidence ("I've heard that...") or some relatively meaningless rankings. Many law firms recruit "blind" so won't be aware of which Uni you attended when you apply.

Choose where you want to go based on your understanding of the course and what you seek from your student life outside of studies, rather than some "he said/she said" comments you may have picked-up.

Go where you will feel happiest.
Both Unis are good for Law, one will not give you any significant advantage over the other - because ultimately your Law career is up to you and your persistence, not the badge of the Uni.

Hello!

It can be really tricky to decide what university to go to! It might be useful to look into how each university teaches and how they assess students as this can range quite a bit across universities. You have already mentioned a few areas of law that you are interested in but I also recommend going to a university that hosts a lot of career events. My university does quite a few where different professions come in to speak to students and this led to me completely changing my ambitions! It is also worth looking into how much there is to get involved in, for example, do the universities do mooting and other competitions?

My other piece of advice would be to remember that there is also so much more to university than just the degree. You will be living in the city for at least three years so I strongly recommend going to an Open Day at both universities. Take a look around and see if you like it and go and explore the city centre to see if you can picture yourself there! Have a look into the different societies that are available - what is there to get involved in outside of your course?

Lastly, as another user mentioned, most law firms recruit university blind. Therefore, the name of the university you choose will make little difference when it comes to applying to law firms after university. Pick the university that you can see yourself getting the most involved at and have a good time!
