Tips for Revising A level Chemistry

hi, I’m in year 13 doing a level chemistry and I understand the content(mostly) but I have no idea how to revise it to remember it for exams. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks:smile:

Hi, my best tip to revise A Level Chemistry would just be to do lots of practice questions by topic! Especially for high yield topics like acids and bases, titration, percentage yield, NMR and mass spec. Would recommend PMT or Dalton Chemistry Tuition if you are looking to challenge yourself.

Hi @user2008653 😀

I'm a second year undergraduate at the University of Essex studying Biochemistry. I also took A level chemistry and it was one of my favourite subjects!

What I would say is active recall is much more beneficial than reading your notes or your textbook especially as you've mentioned that you feel like you understand the content which is a great start ⭐️

So, I used flashcards for definitions and for points on long mark questions. But I typed them on Anki for example as that was less time consuming so I could spend more time actually learning them ⌨️

I'd also suggest especially for mechanisms just writing everything you can remember from a topic onto an A4 piece of paper just from memory to see what you already know. As that can really help you understand the areas where your knowledge is good but also what you need to work on.

And of course, practise questions and past papers !! Because knowing the mark scheme is so helpful as questions are often repeated, but maybe just worded slightly differently so then you already know the bullet points that they want you to include 😊

Hope this helps and good luck with your exams ! 😀
