How to apply to university

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m a representative from De Montfort University (DMU), and I’d love to share a quick guide on how to apply to university. First, start by researching your course and universities check entry requirements, modules, teaching style, and campus life to find the best fit for you.

Once you’ve chosen where to apply, head to UCAS (www.ucas.com) to create your account and complete your application. You’ll need to include your qualifications, a reference, and your personal statement, which explains your passion and motivation for the subject. You can apply to up to five courses, and remember to keep track of important deadlines January for most other courses. After applying, you may receive conditional or unconditional offers, or be invited to an interview.

Once all your offers are in, you’ll choose a firm (first choice) and insurance (backup) option. On results day, if you meet your conditions, your place will be confirmed; if not, you can still find a place through Clearing. After that, you’ll need to arrange student finance and accommodation, and get ready for your new journey!

At DMU, we offer guaranteed housing for first-year students, a supportive community, and an exciting Welcome Week to help you settle in. My top tips are: start early, stay organised, and don’t hesitate to ask questions whether here on TSR or directly through our DMU contact channels.

If you’d like to learn more about DMU courses, student life, or applications, feel free to ask me I’m here to help! 😊

Probably worth noting that if you don't meet your offer conditions, then either your Firm or Insurance might still chose to accept you anyway. So you won't automatically need to use clearing to find a place.

DeMont certainly accepted me as a near-miss candidate all those years ago
