Can I get into top unis' engineering courses with just maths & physics? I do Maths Phys Eng lit only because I'm good at eng lit & it's a likely A*. Do I need further maths or is A/A* in Maths & Phys good enough for top universities?

Have you looked at the specific entry requirements for a range of different Engineering courses? As FM isn't offered at all schools, Unis will not insist on it for Engineering. There is no hidden agenda - if they don't state that its required or preferred, it isn't.

Sheffield - General Engineering courses | EEE | The University of Sheffield - "A*AA including Maths and Physics"

Liverpool - Engineering BEng (Hons) | Courses | University of Liverpool - "AAB including
Mathematics and a second science."

Lancaster - Engineering BEng Hons (H100) - Lancaster University "ABB. including Mathematics and one physical science subject from Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Design & Technology or Further Mathematics."

Etc etc
