How to revise for A levels??

Sitting exams next summer and I'm struggling on planning and revising for my A levels. I keep getting distacted when I sit down and try to do work. Also I'm struggling with understanding content and what doesn't help is the lack of resources for my exam board - WJEC. Any tips or advice would be great!

Hiya! (:

not a-levles myself but can totally relate to getting distracted when i go to start revision😅 - I find it pretty helpful to do revision in a place like the libary or a cafe and then once home then just chill!, means its all kinda split a bit and once im back home i can just relax (: - i usually set a 20 min timer, work for a bit and then take a 5 min break to do whatever!

also i find halfway through, if im studying for a while taking a break to walk to somewhere else to study to be really beneifical - sounds a bit odd lol but just the walk outsdie & the change of scenery sometimes makes all the difference!

also at the start of the week writing up a rough study plan is fab for structuring things, i usually try to include a bit of extra time on this too so if something throughout the week changes, i still have some room to get stuff done without having to mess around with plans! - also means if you stick to the original plan, you have more room to chill or a bit of extra time to revise (:

content wise, i'd reccomend chatting to your teachers, they might have some type of mock questions from previous mock exams that arent being reused that you could possibly use for revision, also might be able to suggest some websites, youtube videos etc to help explain concepts better to make it a bit easier to understand!

hope this helps a bit, best of luck with exams!!💜

Hi,

It can be hard to study sometimes, I also tend to get distracted a lot but there are a few ways to make studying more effective:
•Use a flexible timetable plan your revision around your most productive times. Try the Pomodoro method: 25–50 minutes of focused work followed by a 5–10 minute break to stay fresh and avoid burnout.
•Use active recall make flashcards, mind maps, or quiz yourself on key concepts instead of just rereading notes.
•Practise past papers even if resources are limited, use past WJEC papers and mark schemes to understand the types of questions asked.
•Use online resources websites like Physics & Maths Tutor, Seneca Learning, or YouTube channels for WJEC topics can help fill gaps.
•Focus on understanding try to link concepts together; this makes answering exam questions much easier.

Consistency and quality matter more than long hours of study. Start small, stay organised, and gradually build up your revision. You’ve got this!

I'm trying to do more and more of them. But I'm finding them hard to do because I don't know the content.

Hi @charismatic-brew

Luckily you have lots of time to figure out what works for you!

Do you know what in particular is distracting you? If so can you remove the distraction?

For example I know I work best in the day and in the library and not my room, so I make those adjustments. I also have a busy mind and find lots of other things I could be doing instead, so I use the pomodoro technique and anything that comes to my mind that I need to do I write it down and do it in my 5-minute break.

I will link some posts I have done with revision tips

Would it be worth speaking to your teachers on any areas of content you are struggling with?

After half term I'm gonna speak with my teachers about it and see what they say.

Hi @charismatic-brew

I completely relate to this!

I would say the pomodoro technique has helped me with this as I wait to go on my phone in the 5 minute break. For some reason I also go on my phone less when I am in my library and not in my room. I also delete Instagram from time to time so that I have no apps that I really want to go on on my phone. You can set time limits for apps too.

I know there are apps you could look into that help you not go on your phone. Maybe also putting your phone in a different room or turning it off.

I hope some of these tactics work for you and good luck revising
