Hey, just wanna let you know if you are applying for 2026, the deadline for early applicants was 15 october. If you are in year 12, then dont worry you have lots of time and you will get advice from school. What are you applying for and what super-curriculars do you want to mention and what about it are you asking so i can help?

The deadline for the extra ‘My Cambridge’ personal statement (1200 characters) is 22nd October. It’s different to the main personal statement.

Hello! I applied last year and the tactic I went with, which they seemed to like because my PS was highlighted as a strong part of my application when I asked for feedback, was to elaborate on a supercurricular I only briefly touched on in my main PS. You want to avoid just listing far too many things (unless they're like super super impressive and you've done world class research or something lol, but most people haven't) because then you will have to revise and be very confident in all of these areas for interview and I think it also makes your application look a bit less realistic.

I focused on really getting into the depths academically of a topic that I had just named in my PS. So for me, this meant talking about genetics and gene therapy and how this was being used to treat SMA (I was a med applicant) and actually linking it to my studies in school and how I found the specific scientific mechanisms interesting. This took up most of the 1200 characters.

Then, I would also recommend showing you have done your research on Cambridge specifically and chosen the course because it suits you. Lots of poeple just apply for the prestige and you want to show them that you are actually passionate about the course - so go on the Faculty pages and read the detailed course outline, the first year modules, research unique aspects of the course and highlight something that distinguishes Cambridge from other unis and why it suits you. I ended up talking about how intercalation options at Cambridge are quite broad, which is kind of unique amongst medical schools.

Hope that all makes sense. Best of luck with your application! xx

Hi thanks for the advice!
I think I might take ur 2nd point of advice regarding the statement.
I spent most of my time in my first statement talking about my supercurriculars in detail, so in my second ps, I concentrated talking on why Cambridge's course for general engineering interests me more than only applying for aerospace engineering at other unis, with specifics of the course.

I also talked about STEM SMART, a Cambridge run tutoring programme and how I know the teaching satisfies my interests.
I have 2 days to tweak it so lmk if that works, thanks!

That sounds perfect! Whenever Turks talk about the Cambridge PS they always emphasise specifying it to Cambridge uni as opposed to ucas which is for all unis.

Best of luck xx
