Should I substitute an option?

I’m applying for E&M everywhere besides the odd management courses to unis that don’t offer E&M.

For Durham, I was planning on applying to E&M but instead opted for Business and management as it has a lower math requirement (in case I miss it on the exam day), however I’m worried my PS won’t be competitive enough as it was split 50/50. I spoke to my counsellor about this, and she said that it should be okay since economics is a big part of business.

Should I keep the safety even at the risk of getting rejected for my PS, or switch and risk my only safety.

I’m also international and saw in Durham’s 2024 admissions statistics that 80%+ internationals were made an offer for business. On their FAQ they also say they only really consider PS for competitive courses, in which business was not listed. All my other stats are good (44 predicted IB, 9A*/A in IGCSE). Please give me your thoughts on this.

I am not sure why you have Durham as a safety option. It seems your uni selection may be too stacked with top unis or competitive courses.

Safety as in grades wise + looking at their admissions reports for internationals

Durham is a notorious uni and rejects applicants with top grades. Last year, some Durham applicants complained that they had offers from Oxbridge but rejected by Durham with stellar grades.

I wont rely on Durham as a safety option. However you should apply and hope for the best.
