Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. I'm a 18 year old gap year student. I just finished my A Levels in Politics, English Literature, Sociology and Economics. If you're wondering why I've taken a gap year, I've started working full time to save up money to pay off my degree instead of borrowing a student loan. I plan to start university in September 2026 but honestly I'm so lost! I'm torn between picking a degree in Politics, Politics with International Relations or Journalism. The problem is I wouldn't mind pursuing any of these degrees since it's based off my interests but I'm worried about future job aspects seeing how bad the job market is. My plan in the end really is to get a good job, high salary and to retire my parents (if possible). I also don't want to disappoint my parents in the future since they're not really happy with the fact that I didn't choose a career in STEM. I'm looking to only apply to Russell Group Universities as I've achieved grades AAAB. Please help me out, thank you!
