Will a rythm game work as the NEA Computer Science project?

I've gotten an idea to make a rythm game similiar to arcaea, but you can add your own songs and make charts for them similiar to osu and there is also a "practice play" where you can repeat practicing a part (since most rythm games don't have that as a feature). The target group is obviously rythm gamers but do you think this idea works as an NEA project?

Your teacher is always the best and first person you should ask

I'll do that too but I just wanted a feedback from others who already did their NEAs or know what they're doing ^^

I personally think it could work as an NEA, the only drawback is it's a lot of content (textures, songs, etc. these things add up) you'll have to add and not much actual "difficulty", which will make it hard to get marks. If you are really set on it, you can do it but you'll need to work really hard on making it perfect if you want top grades which may take away from your grades in other subjects. I do want to just say, take my opinion with a grain of salt because maybe your teacher can support you with this in a way that I can't anticipate, and could make it a very good project. That's why asking teachers is important, because in the end if you need help you'll need to go to them, and they'll be the ones marking your project, so whatever's good with them will be easiest for you.

Your idea for a rhythm game sounds very promising for an NEA Computer Science project! Allowing players to add their own songs, create charts like osu, and include a “practice play” feature is a unique twist that could really make your game stand out. These features would appeal to rhythm game enthusiasts and show thoughtful consideration of user experience, which is great for a project evaluation. If you’re looking for more inspiration on combining engaging gameplay with extra features, you can explore modern gaming apps that offer fun and rewards, like this one here. Seeing how such apps balance entertainment and user engagement could give you useful ideas for your project design.
