Hey!!
I do AQA A Level English Literature, I think our option is called Love through the Ages??? I am in Y12 and really enjoying it so far. We are studying Wuthering Heights (and the pre-1900 anthology) and Othello at the moment, and its so nice being in a class with other people who like discussing books and stuff.
I really enjoyed it at GCSE...but did not revise for it at all. I just had no idea where to start, so in the end I just compiled a massive word document of all resources I found online and read it over and over again the morning of each exam. Somehow I still got a 9?? But I know this won't work at A Level, so I really need your help!! I am hoping to get an A.
I would just like some advice on what to do (and what not to do) for revision, where to start and how to build it up over the two years. I use online flashcards for everything else but I have found they don't work for me at all when learning analysis etc because I end up writing a mini essay which I then struggle to learn. At the moment all I am doing are quote banks, and then scene by scene character notes for Othello (should I do this for WH as well??) I just need to find a method that works to learn this. I'm also a bit scared that I'm not learning the right things that will help me in my essay writing...I also have no idea how to write essays. My teachers are pretty okay, they just think we should work out this stuff for ourselves.
Also I really need advice on how to go about Wider Reading and Lit Crit!!! (And if anyone has any experience of joint honours english and history at a russel group, I would be interested in learning more).
Thanks for letting me ramble!!! (I'm so scared)
