It is pretty much impossible to put an exact figure on how long you should be revising. I would say the maximum amount of revision you should really be doing is 5 hours because you also need to make sure you are engaging in hobbies and things. Please don't burn yourself out by doing too much revision.

What subjects are you studying?

Hi there!

Its great that you're already working so hard, huge kudos for this.

Just wanted to jump into remind you that its quality over quantity, so varying your revision methods/subjects and making it as fun as reasonably possible, as well as taking regular breaks, are all far more important than how much time you put in. This is because your brain retains more of what it learns if its engaged in the first place, and also consolidates information between learning sessions when you're not revising but doing something else.

I personally used to take time off during half-terms in sixth form, only doing 2 hours a day, but did 1-1.5 hours extra revision from Mon-Thurs after classes were over during term time to catch up on homework, make revision posters/flashcards out of past papers and their markschemes and go over content I learnt in class to make sure my notes were complete.

Hoping this adds - best of luck with the coming months!

I’m doing Maths, Comp sci and Business. The main plan is to get ahead this one week via: exam practice and flashcards

Hey @Cry.Kuro,

As mentioned above, there's not a set amount of hours you should be revising during your half-term break. What grades are you currently working at? If you're currently working at a C in each subject, it'll take significantly more revision to achieve an A* than if you were currently working at an A.

Remember to enjoy your half-term break - after all, you won't get another significant break from college/sixth form until the winter holidays. Two to three hours a day is a good metric, as long as it's spread across the day and there are regular breaks in-between. Maybe take one or two days off as well to meet up with friends/pursue one of your hobbies. 🙂

Flashcards and exam practice are good revision techniques, but bear in mind it is only October - it's very likely you won't have covered enough content in-class to answer a past paper in full. You could, however, look through past papers for questions you do currently feel confident answering.

Hope this helps and best of luck with your revision,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Now that it's the final day. I can say that, I did do 2-3 hours. Some days it was 4 hours to miss out on the days I didn't revise the day prior, but my revision consisted of flashcards, exam questions and coursework(which was today). I just feel like I didn't do enough in my opinion. If I had to say an average grade across all three subjects, it would be a "B". A* In computer Science and business seem achievable. Maths though? Maybe an A.
