TSA 2025 - Advice from 2024 students

Hey everyone, I'm sitting the TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment) for PPE at Oxford on the 27th.

I'm aware the new format is online, and I'm wondering what practicalities are important to consider before sitting the exam, as past resources are on paper.

For example, I've heard that instead of scrap paper you get a whiteboard to scribble workings, are there any other nuances like this that I should implement when doing past papers in order to make sure I am prepared when I walk in?

Don't try and use a system. In 2024, I had done a system on the paper past papers where I did all the problem solving first then blitzed the critical thinking. The impracticalities of rapidly switching questions like this in the new digital format mean it's not worth it, and I ended up having to leave 3 questions unanswered at the end. Take every question as it comes. Stay calm, eat a banana before the test. In theory it's like 1:51 per question, but really you should be doing most critical thinking questions in ~20 seconds and using the rest on problem solving. Try to void your head between questions - if ideas carry between critical thinking questions on similar subjects it can lead to wasted time and wrong answers. Also, pray like hell.

mine's on the 27th too, gl gang. i saw a couple posts from ppl who have alr done it saying it was rlly hard compared to other years, esp CT. and now i'm nervous haha. do you think they'll make it harder for people who do it later? or does everyone get the same questions.

im pretty sure everyone gets the same questions. im super nervous too, but i think everyone who sits the TSA thinks they had the hardest year!!! the added pressure of actually being in the exam makes it feel very different to past papers (well I hope)

i rlly hope its the case of every1 collectively going boohoo me rather than it actually being harder because i can't be dealing with that

Also sitting mine on the 27th! I'm clueless about the freaky whiteboard stuff but it seems incredibly annoying and cheap, but for the online stuff use this website: https://studymind.co.uk/resource/tsa-past-papers/
It's online versions of all tests. Obviously not ideal with 3 days to go but I hope this helps.
Also some of the papers are a bit buggy, so some questions cut off before the last word and some questions are just blank, but 90% of the time it's great.

I did mine today, I wouldn't take much notice to what other people are saying, most of the discussion of certain questions will be irrelevant as you are unlikely to receive most of the same I imagine. I would say the CT was marginally harder than those of the last few years but I think my PS were easier by a greater margin than CT was harder - it balances out. From what I gather the essay titles seem to be good this year, mine was and I heard similar from people taking it the other day.

If you've put in the work you should be fine, good luck!!

I did mine today and was a bit worried about the whiteboard stuff. I think it worked out fine in the end, it shouldn't be much of a worry, just make sure if you need a new set of laminated sheets, you do so before you run out of space!! I didn't run out of space but it was nearing full by the end so I got a new so I had more room to plan my essay.

Good luck mate, I'm sure you'll smash it!!
