What 'subject umbrella' do English and Film Studies come under?

Sorry, I feel like this is a very very stupid question.
I'm writing my personal statement, but I don't know how to categorise these subjects, because they aren't quite humanities, and they aren't quite arts either. I'm looking to apply for both of them, so I need to include them both in my personal statement.

If you are applying to two related subjects the best approach is to focus on the themes and skills that connect them rather than trying label them into a category. That may make it easier to write your PS to cover both courses you plan to apply to.
