Confusion regarding capacitor discharging calculatin
The only part I don't understand here is the time taken value, how is it 7.5ms? If we were to only take the discharging time shouldn't it be 2.5ms?

I think you do not know how to read a "smoothing voltage graph".
The capacitor discharges when the output voltage decreases from the peak. See below.
Maybe you have figured out already.
