Accreditation for Biology courses?

Hi! For uni, the main course I’m looking at isn’t accredited by the RSB (MBiol C503 Uni of Liverpool), and I was wondering if this was a massive detriment? I was planning on doing the fourth year in industry, if that changes anything. Thanks in advance!

Hi there 😊 I'm a Zoology BSc student at the University of Plymouth and my course is accredited by the RSB, along with other related courses in my school. The RSB accreditation has some differences to the course itself compared to the other unaccredited courses, such as certain assessment modifications and module requirements. For example, my course had to do a personal portfolio record of achievement and reflection to meet the RSB requirements. There is also free student RSB membership included with the course.

From the RSB website, they say that the accreditation benefits include: "Enhanced competitiveness in a crowded global jobs market; Professional body accreditation of their degree; Free membership/registration to the RSB; Professional body assurance on the quality of a degree".

Hope this helps and best of luck! 😁

RSB is a meaningless accreditation - its just a pretty badge for the Uni website. There is no job that actually requires this. Its just a way of the Uni making courses look good to the unsuspecting and the RSB increasing its membership. You might as well join the Brownies frankly.
