Have I ruined my chance at getting into Oxford for PPE with my GCSEs?

Hi I am in year 12 and I got 4 9s 4 8s and 3 7s in my GCSEs. My 9s were History, Maths, English Lit and Biology, my 8s were in German, English Language, Chemistry and Physics and my 7s were in Comp Sci, Music and Further Maths. I am incredibly worried that I might get rejected next year with these results

These are excellent grades and you should probably be aware of that having 4 9s already puts you above average. Plus unis like oxbridge it should be fine as long as all your grades are 7-9 as 8s and 9s are equivalent to A* and 7 is equivalent to an A. another plus is that your 9s are in relevant subjects to PPE. Basically you’re in a good position and these grades certainly do not mean a rejection at all.

You think getting 8A*s and 3As is going to put you at a disadvantage? You need to relax my friend. Some of my friends have gotten into Oxford and their GCSEs were a combination of 7777778 so you are DEFINITELY not at a disadvantage because of your gcse grades. More focus is placed on your A level predictions

Your GCSE grades are well above average.

I wonder which 3 or 4 A-Level subjects you're studying?

You will need to be predicted high grades ideally.

Universities - all Universities - are far more interested in your A level grades, Personal Statements and any required test scores than what you got in your GCSEs.

That's a relief! It's just some of my school friends were saying that it would probably put me at a disadvantage as most people applying usually have a few more 9s

Haha yes maybe I do need to relax a little okay yes I will work hard for my A Level predictions but it's a relief that not everyone who gets into Oxford gets all 9s or somewhere close to that!

That's good to hear, as long as these grades don't put me at a disadvantage!

I would drop an A Level - I believe that they only look at your top three.
The logic is it would be easier getting better grades by only doing three, rather than (potentially) spreading yourself too thin.
