Resit gcse grades

If you resat a gcse and got a grade higher, would you have to state both grades or just the resit higher grade for a uni application?
And vice versa if you resat a gcse and got a grade lower, would you have to state the more recent grade instead of the old higher grade?
Thanks

Hi, I resat my English literature IGCSE exam. I originally received a 7 and resat and got a 9. You should not need to state both grades, they will typically take the higher or better grade. This is what happened when I got into sixth form college, and will likely be the same for University, Hope this helps!

For university applications in UK through UCAS you are required to state both grades.
