going to university next year with a baby

Hi guys
I am going to be going to university for a midwifery degree next year. My little one will be 14 months old, my partner is very supportive however works 7 hours a day. do you recommend going? has anyone else went to university with a baby?

Hi

You'll be absolutely fine if you have the right support for childcare in place especially for when you are doing your placements and working various days and shifts, whilst you are doing your university studying weeks you are in Monday to Friday ( about 9 am till about 5 pm ) unless the university is doing a mixture of in person learning and online ( when you spend few days at home doing online work).

Perhaps consider contacting the university and ask them roughly what there coursework is like.

Like you have said " do you recommend going" - yes I would definitely go if you have ever in place for childcare and anything else and if you can't then think 🤔 🤔 what is best for yourself and your family.

Inf not have an children yet and I'm already a registered adult nurse, I have seen students doing midwifery and adult nursing degrees when having young children and got through it but they had the necessary support to help them.

Hi @olivialouiselx 🙂
Firstly congratulations on gaining a place at university to study midwifery ! I'm a third year student midwife and I understand why you're thinking carefully about how you will manage alongside having a little one at home.
Within my cohort I've seen parents who are studying and have young children however it does require good planning and support. The course is full time and placement shifts could be long day shifts or night shifts. Having your partner is a huge support however taking into consideration his work duties, exploring flexible childcare options may be of help too.
