Is there a chance with cambridge med with these stats?

I always see other applicants ask this with much higher grades than mine. I know my stats are quite low but, is there still a chance. Its quite unclear (to me) what cambridge wants.

For reference, im applying to Cauis.
GCSEs: 88887777665 (English lit and lang 88, BioChemPhysics 876, Maths..6)
A level predictions: A*A*A* (Bio, chem, psychology)
UCAT: 1990 band 2 (67th centile)
Contextual info: POLAR4 Quintille 2, State school, Attended Melanin medics summer school, i scored higher than my schools average attainment score (my schools score was 57 and mine is 72).

Idk do you think theres even a chance to get an interview.

Ive also applied to Sheffield, Glasgow and QMUL

Cambridge strongly prefer B1 in UCAT, and the average UCAT score of accepted students is higher. You have really good predictions but I don't think it's enough for Cambridge unfortunately. You could resit UCAT as that's really the only weak point (since Cambridge don't really care about GCSEs) but as it stands probably not too high a chance. But once you start working, it won't matter where you studied medicine. Don't worry about prestige, just do whatever gets you most prepared for the field as soon as possible.

@melancollege Don't Cambridge require 3 STEM subjects now for Medicine? I thought this was the case but the Uni website seems to suggest that it's College-dependent and some Colleges will admit with only 2 off the STEM list.

That is what I thought and this was what we were told for previous years' outreach events. However, entry requirements do change: in my first year, it was only 2 STEM A-Levels, then it changed to 3, I would assume it has now been changed back for some colleges. Since this is a recent change to the website, I would assume OP's A-Levels are acceptable for this academic year. It may change again in future.

Hey, just to add that Cambridge will not be considering situational judgement score for 2026 entry according to the website. So no, Cambridge do not strongly prefer B1, though I may be wrong and it may be a college specific thing.
Everything looks strong, the UCAT score may be a problem however and it would greatly depend on other Cambridge/Caius college applicants. But there is still a chance of getting an interview for sure.
Hope this helps, if I made any mistakes please correct me.

Just want to emphasise as well, Cambridge do not look at SJT.

Yes your ucat score isn't the highest but your grades are very high and you meet quite a few contextual flags.

You also have applied to other schools which are a lot safer, so there's no reason why Cambridge can't be your reach/aspirational choice imo. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Also, to add on for interviews - remember Cambridge is unlike most schools in that they interview 75-80% of candidates so the y are likely to accept you if they think you have a chance and if you get an interview you could get an offer. Best of luck with your application xx
