Hello, history teacher here :hello:

I'm not familiar at all with AQA but I'd be happy to share some tips on my walk to work this morning. Catch up then,

Top tip would be to get ahead and write a draft out in full very early. Some days it may feel like you are writing utter dog **** (mine did) but it is so much easier redrafting and improving once you have words on a page.

Second tip would be not to get too carried away with quotes. Definitely quote material, but quotes don't have to be long and sometimes it's better to just paraphrase, rather than quote. I have one student at the moment combing through books and collecting far more quotes than they will need. Sometimes it is more sophisticated and fluent to not quote, paraphrase, and drop a footnote in.

Third tip would be placing your historians in order of publication. I don't know if it's in the AQA syllabus but part of the criteria for OCR and Edexcel is understanding the way that historians views have altered over time. Doing things chronologically can help with that.
