If I take a gap year for a new A levels, will unis be okay with that?

I want to study biochemistry at university but this is a late decision, and, as I am only doing biology and not chemistry as an A level right now (as well as criminology and psychology) I was wondering if universities will still accept an application I make if I haven’t done all of my A levels at the same time, if I decide to take a gap year to complete a chemistry A level. Thank you for any help!

Email the universities you're interested in and ask, but I don't think most will care if you do Chemistry a year later. And if they do care, you might be able to apply to Biochemistry with foundation years, which should have more forgiving entry requirements when it comes to A-level subject requirements.

I would do your research on specific universities your interested in. There are other similar courses which you would be able to get into with just biology and your other a levels but if your set on biochem, a level chem is a must.

One thing to consider is some unis may be a bit picky if you haven't sat all your a levels in the same year, so checking that is a must
You should check with the unis.
I spread my A Levels out over 3 years (I did French and Spanish 2000-2002, and Classical Civilisation 2001-2003, and resat French in 2003), and then I took a gap year after that to work, and it wasn't a problem - I still got offers from Liverpool and Leeds, but obviously that was a long time ago - things might be different now.
