MAT I lost 15 minutes

During the MAT 2025, my board marker ran out of ink and so I raised my hand to ask for a new one, but due to lack of staff, there were no staff nearby to supply me with a new whiteboard marker so for approximately 15 minutes of the exam I did not get to use whiteboard to work out a solution. Until 15 minutes later the test centre staff had enteted the room and so i was able to ask them for a pen.

Do i get to appeal that I lost 15 minutes or is it just tough luck and i have lost odds of getting into Oxford?

Ouch! That sucks! Gotta be worth a try on some sort of appeal, or some sort of special mention to go in when Oxford looks at your app. Good luck!

You should mention this - there is a way of recording circumstances that affected the exam, such as disruption in the exam centre, technical errors etc. This would fall in that category.

yeah that's so stupid. It's literally the staff's job to give you a pen when you need it, so it really sucks that this may now hamper your chances. You should definitely write an email to Pearson complaining about it, and hopefully you're able to get it appealed

You need to submit a special consideration request, and do it as soon as possible.

Follow the advice here

Thanks everyone i have sent the special considerations request hoping that this does not affect my chances heavily of getting in. Would anyone know how long it would take for them to get back?

It could take up to 30 business days.

Just to clarity, you are filling in a special considerations request to Oxford, not appealing to Pearson. The link posted by the poster above is to do with an appeal to Pearson to do with their English language tests and that is not relevant to you. The only thing you need from Pearson is a case log from your test centre - have you managed to get that?.

The staff had replied and asked me if i requested a case log from my test centre, but i did not because i did not know you could request a case log. Would anyone know how would i request a case log from my test centre?

You need to contact the test centre and speak to them about what happened.
