Funding for new course

Hi could anyone from student finance help me. I Started a midwifery degree at this horrible university in April 2024. There I was stalked harrassed by a student both in placement and in the university itself. The university forced me to defer in March 2025 only to tell student finance I attended one day in April which I did not. I have now left but student finance says that my funding counts for two years even though I only did one and I want to apply to do biomedicine. It's not possible is it?

Hi there. Did you start the second year at all? Do you know what the term dates are for the year? We would only count it as two year if the university or yourself confirm you attended past the end of your final term in year 1. Thanks, Leah.

I was forced to defer on the 10th of March so I did not attend after that as an official student.

Hi there, if you have only used 1 year of your studies then you may be eligible for SFE support for studying Biomedicine, however this is dependant on the university, if our records show that 2 years have been used then this would impact on the support provided (likely blocking tuition fees in year 1 of the new course). However if the university submits the correction to SFE then we can update this and this will allow for your entitlement to be adjusted. We would however require the university to submit this correction. Stephen
