Scots Law LLB

What chance do I have in getting into Law at Glasgow and University. I am also applying to Caledonian, Stirling, and Dundee University as those are more achievable.

In S5 I only took 4 highers(regretfully) and got an A in Higher History, A in Higher business, B in Higher Spanish and C in Higher English( I have appealed the C but don't know if it will go through as I got a C in my prelim).
I want to apply for Law with Spanish at Strathclyde, Scots Law at Glasgow University, Dual degree in Scots and English Law at Dundee and, Scots Law at Caledonian and Stirling.

I am SIMD40/Quintile 2 so I qualify for widening access and currently doing the Reach Programme. I also did Sutton Trust Programme at Glasgow University(although it was in Arts & Humanities.

Good afternoon @pearolZ ,

I hope that you're doing well?

Great to hear that you are interested in studying our Scots Law programme.

I have noted that the SMID40 requirements for our law programme is: AAABB (ABB S5 minimum for consideration), so based upon this you would met the S5 minimum to be considered for entry. The key point is all applicants must meet the overall requirements of AAABB by the end of S6.

Have you had a chance to visit our campus or our law school? One of our alumni put together this great article 'A day inthe Life of a Scots Law Student: Home Student Edition'

You can read it here - https://www.gla.ac.uk/study/studentlife/askastudent/?unibuddy=blog/post/5f2ef5f5a32b6d3d7dea5eb3

Hope this helps

Thanks,

I would double check with admissions you are definitely Simd 40 as there have been issues with data sets. Admissions will get back to you. Some unis had my daughter as quintile 1 others quintile 2 despite being quintile 1 for years. I used the Scot gov look up but some universities are very ambiguous. Also, carefully read the contractual policies.

Glasgow prioritises the LNAT so try make sure you are well prepared for that, I think you need to be getting above 22 really to be in with a chance. I got rejected automatically because my LNAT with perfect grades so it really depends on the LNAT I would say. I would say it's worth applying though as you should have at least 2 reach unis, and 2 ones which you have the met the standard grade requirement for

I got 18 😬but one of the girls on my current course got I think around 22 and was rejected. But i imagine even though it says we were rejected due to the LNAT there's actually a variety of reasons behind it. So you might as well try apply anyway , good luck!
