Hi i applied last year for management and didn't hear back until march. The earliest I heard that someone got offered was in February for Chemisty. St Andrews are usually quite late with their responses as they wait until all of the UK applicants are in before deciding.

I've just received an offer for CS and Philosophy yesterday, since our courses are similar I'd assume you'll be getting an offer pretty soon as well.

Hey, I’m an offer holder and I’m just wondering if you could give me a really honest pros and cons list if you have a few minutes

congratulations!!! ill try and make up a list for you

pros
its a small town which I love over a big city, I always feel safe and you're only about a 30 min walk MAX from anything and I mean max
the people are so lovely and welcoming and its easy to find people you like/ get along with but its big enough to never have to see people you don't like
there are so many sports and societies to join so its easy to find your people
academic traditions (e.g. Raisin and may dip) make sure everyone is included in their own way and are adaptable for everyone.
in terms of subjects it is very flexible as you take 3 subjects in your first two years, these can be changed each semester in the first two years as long as you have one core one. for example i take management as my core subject with geography and sustainable development on the side. If i decided to I could change my two side subjects or even change them to be my main degree and drop management.
As a humanities student I only have lectures for my subjects 3 times a week (9 in total) with a smaller tutorial as well and end up having a friday and most of a monday off which means i am able to work and get money. However, science students have lectures everyday so im not sure if youll see this as a pro

cons
tbh St Andrews is a kind of expensive place to live - however there are scholarships and grants available if needed
there are quite a few well brought up kids but they tend to form their own groups and there are many more down to earth people too lol
im a first year currently and even though i do love the subjects im taking they are a little bit easy as they are trying to bring everyone to the same level- i haven't fully felt challenged yet but that may come in later years
the night life may not be what you expect. There is only one club (the 601 at the union). most people just socialise in bars instead which means nights out might not be as crazy as expected it you can still easily get wasted if you tried. There are lots of balls on though which can be fun but tickets start at about £50

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!!

This really helps thank you!! I’m not too bothered about having an amazing night life but I’m relieved to hear that there are down to earth people.

It's one of the best universities in the UK now.

Is the accommodation of good quality and how does accommodation work in year 2 and 3?

I live in Mcintosch and really like it. I cant say for the other accommodations but they could be a lot worse than they are. In 2nd, 3rd and 4th year people tend to find flats/houses but there are lots of people who decide to stay in halls instead. Halls are only guaranteed for first years so it can be a bit risky.
