reading past students papers that got high grades, that helped me see where I needed to improve and what exactly a grade 9 response looks like.

Hope this helps,

hey! I got a 9 in lit and lang from a 77 in my y11 mocks. I would defo recommend essay plans for lit, if you start now it would be super helpful during ur easter holidays. Personally, I never really wrote out full essay responses (since i started prep for english quite late) , but you have plenty of time rn. I would recommend writing out an essay plan then writing out your answer. Get ur teacher to mark it and annotate where you couldve improved. Try and find model answers, ask ur teacher for some as she may have links to where you can find them! Good luck!!

Hi @sunrise-cloud

I would recommend that you be really selective about what quotes you learn. For any quotes that you decide are important, make sure you understand what they mean and how you could use them to support your answer in the exam. You can also practice answering lots of past paper questions using these quotes.

As well as answering past paper questions, it is probably a good idea to make your own questions based on key themes and characters that have not come up on previous papers. Depending on how much time you have, you can either create a detailed essay plan or write a full answer for each essay.

Hope that helps!
