Living alone

I have a situation going rn and it's gonna affect me very soon.
For those who don't know, I was born in Argentina and emigrated here when I was 5. Now I'm in my first year of a levels attending a school in Surrey. However, due to financial difficulties and a strict job requirement, my dad, and so my family, is forced to move back to Argentina.
However, my parents gave me a choice to either go with them, my siblings, and even my dog, and leave England behind or stay in a student dorm from January 2026 onwards to finish my last 2 years of education.
I chose the latter but it has consequences. Of course being alone, without my family until July 2027 is a consequence. I will be able to visit during holidays but that is normally months apart. Also, I would have to move from where I am currently residing to the area where my school is because normally it takes me an hour and a bit to get to school, so if I live alone, with other people, who are mostly uni students, then I would have to adapt to a new place. I would also have to give up some of my extra curriculars (that was gonna happen anyways).
Therefore, my question here is does anyone have any tips to help me? I'm ok with this arrangement (I always look for the good), but I'm honestly scared. I would have to do my own food, washing, and activities from then on, but at least it prepares for uni life. I just want tips from people who live in dorms and can provide tips for living by myself, or people who can relate to this experience.

Hi!

I understand how hard it is being very far away from family and not being able to see them until important holidays or special times!

Here are a few tips and some advice:

Keep yourself busy! Fill your days with things such as work, exercise and activities that make you feel fulfilled and happy both physically and mentally.

Always stay in contact via phone, i always facetime my family as it makes it easier knowing they are doing well!

Make some friends or join a community that you can go to events or binge series or do something with.

allow yourself to get creative with your food, try out some new recipes and explore different tastes

go for a walk or run and explore the area where you live!

try some new hobbies such as scrapbooking or art or gaming etc

Hope this helps!
