Not sure whether to drop out of MMU

I’m currently enrolled for computer science with a foundation year at mmu but I realised that I don’t want to to do it and want to do psychology. I was already enrolled in psychology without a foundation year but through clearing switched to computer science. So I submitted a transfer request and they said I have to complete the foundation year this year and then I can move to psychology next year. Im not sure whether I should just drop out and apply again for next year or just suck it up and continue this year. I was told there was no guarantee as well since my grades were BBC in a levels. I was wondering if anyone else has been in a a similar situation and had any advice and if I am likely to get in for next year and if it would be too much of a hassle to reapply. I am also worried about the fees for this year as I will basically be paying for a course I have no interest in.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying your course at Man Met. You would be welcome to apply for our BSc (Hons) Psychology degree for September 2026 entry although there is no guarantee you will be offered a place, so please bear this in mind when making your decision to withdraw from your current course. I would encourage you to speak with your Programme Lead, and get in touch with our Student Hub or our Union's Advice Centre to discuss your options so that you can then make an informed decision.

Hope this helps,
Mel
