Alevel history wider reading recommendations

Hi, was just wondering if anyone has any wider reading recommendations for alevel history Tudors or Cold War? Thanks!!

not sure on many examples but there’ll be plenty of documentaries out there. iplayer has a good one on Mary Queen of Scot’s’ letters and there’s the bbc Cold War documentary from the 90s that i find quite good!-if this is for q3 (supercurricular) on personal statement too, i believe you can go beyond your spec, eg i went on about British prime ministers in mine but have never studied them in history

*i misread you said *reading* not just wider stuff as a whole but still i do recommend them!
**im afraid ive read little on the Cold War, but milovan djilas’ Conversations with Stalin is a good book on the early Cold War!

Tudor England by John Guy is a classic, cant go wrong with it

Diarmuid MacCulloch's book about the Reformation is a classic. If you want something a bit more readable - 'pop history' sort of thing - then Tracy Borman, Alison Weir, and Antonia Fraser are all a good shout. :smile:

CNN (back when they were a serious news organisation) did a very good documentary series on the Cold War. There are several channels on Youtube that have all episodes.
