Children’s Nursing -> Dental Hygiene/ Therapy

Hi guys,

I’m currently studying children’s nursing and I am in my second year. I have realized it’s not my calling anymore and I want to move into dental therapy/ hygiene. I do not have a science a level and most of them need biology (in London). I was wondering if my credits from my nursing course would maybe help because i’ve done stuff like anatomy and physiology?

There are many jobs that are open to children nurses outside of hospital (some not doing any nurcing). Including health education, welfare surport, GP practice, air hostess.....

Yes, think of the 1st year of hospital work as part of the nurcing degree.

This is something you need to ask unis about before you apply. DH&T is exceptionally competitive to get in to, so do check if you meet the entry requirements. Have you considered Speech and Language Therapy - most of these courses don't require a science?

i was also thinking of doing an access to HE for health sciences so i could have more of a secured spot. but i didn’t realise how expensive it is 😔 i’m not sure if there are any cheaper websites that provide it 😔

Contact some local colleges to see how much they charge for an Access course. Also, you might be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan:
