Redoing year 12??

I started year 12 this year and I got bad gcse results so I couldn’t do physics, chem, econ which I originally picked as I got 554 in triple and 5 in maths. Instead I picked English lit, psychology and French thinking it would be alright but I am really unsure of them as I don’t see myself doing psychology or English at uni and I’m struggling with French a lot and I hate the class. I asked in September to do sociology instead but they said it was too late to swap alvls which was really annoying. I’m doing my maths resit in a couple weeks and I’m aiming to get a 7/8 and I’m thinking about resiting gcse science combined this time as it’s cheaper. Is it worth it to redo year 12 with different a levels(probably the ones i chose before) and resit sciences or no?

The decision to allow you to do this is entirely up to the individual school or college - you need to talk to your Head of Sixth or similar asap to see if this might be possible, don't wait until you have your results.

Really? If I want to leave to another school they will stop me?

They can't 'stop' you - but any other school may not automatically accept you either.

This is a conversation you should be having openly with your school - talk to them and let them know how you are doing, how you are feeling, and what you would like to do. They might be supportive, or they might demand you continue. You won't know until you begin that dialogue.

I did a similar thing, I redid year 12 with new subjects because I didn't like the ones I originally chose, and now I'm in Year 13 I couldn't be happier.

You can still do Sociology and many other social science / humanities degree courses with the subjects you are taking. Remember than many degree subjects do not require any specific A level subjects, the Unis just want the three grades, or there are others that just require 'an essay based subject' etc. Everything from Anthropology to Law, Philosophy to Sociology, Archaeology to Social Policy etc etc.

Just check the entry requirements for any degree subject that sounds interesting :
