Nottingham SJT for vet med

I am trying to practice for SJT, but all I could find was for UCAT. I wanted to know if SJT for Nottingham vet med is also the same format?

Hi, I am planning to do it now! I have been practicing by doing UCAT and also read RVC's code of professional conduct for veterinary surgeons. I think there isn't one correct answer, just try your best and remember qualities that universities look for in students. Good luck!

Hi! Honestly I am not sure how it went. I really hope to get a chance for an interview, but I know how competitive all the uk vet schools are. I just hope that if I made any small mistakes in the SJT, it won’t mean an automatic rejection. I am trying to stay positive and believe it went well! Really looking forward to studying vet med. How did you feel about yours?

Honestly I'm not sure, I tired to study for it a bit by doing AI mock questions but I just felt quite thrown off doing the real thing, idk obviously its gonna be hard to do when you're given very little context in situations but hopefully it went alright for both of us! Do you ming if I ask where else you have applied to?

I have applied to Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh too. I am in the process of filling in the SAQ for Bristol and then just waiting time. Hopefully I will hear something soon! Do you mind sharing your chosen universities too?

I also applied to Bristol and Lancashire and then also for the gateway year for Nottingham so there is a lot of pressure for how that SJT went. For my fifth option I applied to veterinary biosciences and got an offer in Belfast if I have to do things the long way, do 3 years biosciences and then apply for a graduate entry course.

Nice and congrats for getting an offer from your fifth choice! My fifth choice is Animal science in Nottingham, as they have an option for a graduate-entry route directly to Vet med Year 2 of the April Cohort. Did you apply for gateway year for Nottingham and also 5 year course?

I did apply for both of them which thinking back may have been a rushed and not great decision but we're here now, but Im trying to keep all of my options open and I think I'm also gonna apply to sggw in Poland as I know some people down south that are studying there and really enjoying it, applying in general for veterinary is just really nerve wracking cause its so competitive so literally trying to apply to anything I can!

Yes, I can relate to that! It is so competitive in uk, so taking every option is a good choice! I have applied to Canada Guelph university for animal biology degree and then DVM after 2 years, quite far away from Europe and a bit different system, but it is a great school there too and a bit less competitive. When you applied to Nottingham did you choose the preference of April start day or September if you don't mind telling me? Also, you don't need polish language for sggw?

I chose preference of September, which did you go for? There is an English course at sggw with 100 places for international students, so you're still going up against so many people, but there is a few universities in Europe that offer courses in English, I'm looking at Brno which is in the Czech Republic aswell but my parents are iffy on that one. Wow, Canada I honestly didn't even think of there, where did you first hear about the animal biology degree there?

I chose preference for April, as it would give me more time to relocate and explore the surroundings. Some schools in Europe are really nice and it is definitely worth looking into. I looked up Canada, because I have considered relocating there, which is way I am trying to apply only for AVMA accredited schools, in case I would relocate to Canada one day. So many amazing schools, I wish I could study in all of them!

The Nottingham Situational Judgement Test (SJT) for Vet Med gauges your view of the right course of action in an authentic veterinary setting based on your professional judgement, ethics and communication skills. It is very helpful, for your preparation, to be familiar with example questions and develop your ethical reasoning.

Hey, I emailed the IMS company where you can apply through and they said that applications open in January and they said you needed a valid passport, a high school diploma and they don't have entry requirements per se but they have an entrance exam on biology and chemistry that you have to pass to be considered for a spot, I think you can get by in the entrance exams with a level chemistry and biology.

Im not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure there is a couple of different dates from like February, march-ish time to April, I think you can do some of them in person in like London or Dublin on specific dates but don't quote me on that.
