Further math GCSE or other subjects

Hi
At first I need to explain my situation. I'm 18 and I came to UK 2 years ago. I'm studying math,En lit & lang, computer, and combined science GCSEs rn. My goal is to study math, further math , and computer for A-levels. I'm good at math so I did its GCSE in y10 and i got 7. I told my teachers if I can do it again to gain 8 or 9. My friend said don't do it . You're wasting your time. Instead focus on other subjects to get 8/9 for good unis. She said I need 8 subjects for uni. But I'm doing 7 so I decided to do Further Math as well but my school doesn't offer that. what should I do? Do I need to pick other subjects or do math again? Do you think my school will agree with that to study another subject in y11!?
What's your opinion, or if you have any experience like me I would be glad if you share it with me

My suggestion:

1.

Don't retake Maths GCSE.

2.

Focus intensely on your other 6 subjects to get as many 7-9s as possible.

3.

Aim for 8/9 in Computer Science especially.

4.

For further maths, you could:
-Self-study the GCSE content
-Ask if you can take A-level Further Maths alongside Maths and Computer Science.
Here is my 2 cents!

I'd say check the requirements for maths and in particular further maths A level at the college you want to go to. My college required a 7 in maths GCSE for A level maths and an 8 for A level further maths so you might need to retake GCSE maths. If you're confident enough in your abilities it shouldn't take up too much time from your other subjects. For further maths you could learn the content yourself and ask to take the exam, even if your school doesn't let you sit the exam having the knowledge will still be helpful in A level. As someone who's currently looking at uni options, I don't remember seeing specifically needing 8 GCSEs, from what I've seen GCSE requirements are usually a 4/5 in maths/english if any.
