Subject choice for university 2026

My predicted grades are AAA. I initially planned to apply for Economics, but since most of my chosen universities require A*AA, I’ve decided to focus my personal statement on Finance and Management instead, as I don’t want to take unnecessary risks. However, my fifth choice university offers Economics with an entry requirement of AAA, which matches my predicted grades.
Given that my personal statement is now tailored more towards Finance and Management, what are the chances of receiving an offer for Economics from my fifth-choice university? Additionally, for universities where the requirement for Economics is A*AA, is there still a possibility of receiving an offer with AAA predicted grades if my personal statement and work experience are strong?

Good afternoon,

I recommend emailing your chosen university directly to inquire about the entry requirements. Typically, universities may offer you a conditional offer, but if you then fail to meet the grade requirements, you will not be able to accept the offer. It is always a good idea to have a backup university which has lower grade requirements.

It is impossible to tell whether the economics universities will offer you a place, but having a range of universities will increase your chances.
