Lae 2026

Hi, I'm thinking about whether I should apply for the London Academy Of Excellence or is it just a waste of a sign up because of my low grades, especially german German and Geography.
Maths 8
Religious Studies 8
Physics 9
Chem 7
Bio 7
Business 7
English lang 7/8
English lit 7/8
Geography 6
German 6

But it also depends on what a-levels you want to take, since their are different requirements for each subject (e.g you only need an 8 at GCSE Maths to study maths at A-levels, but you need a 9 if you want to study FM).

Can I ask what subjects you plan on doing?
To study humanities subjects you usually just need to meet the minimum entry requirements for those subjects, STEM subjects are typically more competitive (as in, you're aiming for all 9s in the subjects you wish to study)

Also, I forgot to mention, this all applies to LAES, but their may be different requirements for LAE Tottenham. Good luck with your application, I hope we both get in!

It's fine if you still haven't decided which science you want to do, I'm still slightly unsure about my 4th choice too lol! However, if you take maths and fm, which suggests maths is one of your stronger subjects, physics would be a logical combo, but it's your preference.

I'd recommend speaking to subject specialist teachers if you have tickets to the in-person open evening. Good luck with locking in that 9 in maths!

I'm planning on taking bio, chem and maths. I'm probably going to take econ too. Also, when you said you want to take business, did you mean economics or business studies, because I'm pretty sure LAES doesn't offer business studies.

i just realised they don't offer business studies. that would mean I won't be able to get in for economics too right? I might be fried. For my A Levels, when i sign up for different sixth forms could i give different subjects?

No problem, I hope you get in too! I'm going to apply to NCS and Brampton Manor too, I'm still thinking about other places, lmk if there are any you would recommend. Wbuu?

Ooo NCS and Brampton Manor are high ranked schools I really hope you get inn! I live in watford so i'm not aiming for much, probably Parmiters School, Watford Grammar and KEGS.

Predicted - 99888887 (8.1 APS)
Achieved - 99988877 (8.1 APS)

I would say your grades are too low for an offer right now, but if you can raise your english grades and you're looking to apply for humanities then theres definitely a possibility that you get an offer. Don't worry too much about your german grade - my french grade was a predicted 5 and achieved 6, lae only really cares about your top 8 subjects (inc. eng lang & maths)
