Questions About Salford MSc Project Management in Construction – January Intake

Hi everyone!
I’m planning to start the MSc Project Management in Construction course at Salford in January 2026, and I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s done the January intake before.
I’ll be working Part-time alongside my studies, so I’m particularly interested in:

What was the weekly timetable like? Were classes spread across the week or concentrated on certain days?
Did the timetable change throughout the year?
How manageable was the workload with other commitments?
What was your overall experience of the course?
How difficult was it to secure a placement (if you did the placement route)?
How would you describe the teaching style—more theoretical or practical?
Is there much group work or collaboration with other students?
Are the online resources (e.g. Blackboard, lecture recordings) helpful and well-organized?
Are there any guest lectures, site visits, or industry networking events?
Did the course help you build connections in the construction industry?
What kind of support did the university offer for finding placements?
Were placements mostly in Manchester or spread across the UK?
How flexible is the course for someone working Part-time?

Please feel free to answer whichever questions you’re comfortable with—any insight would be really helpful.
Thanks so much in advance!

Hello,

Firstly, it is really amazing that you are looking at our MSc Project Management in Construction course, we are super excited to see you are getting all your important questions answered.

I will try my best to answer where and when I can, but I would say that the best thing you can do it come to a Postgraduate Open Day. Your amazing list of questions will all be able to be answered as you will be able to speak directly to the tutors and maybe even a current student on the course.

You can book onto the Open Day now and it will take place on the 26th November 2025, 13:00 18:00. You can book onto the open day via this link.

For all your timetable-based questions, feel free to email our course enquiries team as they would be able to advise more on what a timetable may look like for you.

To email our course enquiries teams it would be [email protected] they take up to five days to respond to any email.

You can also give them a call on 0161 295 4545 between the hours of 10am and 4pm, Monday -Friday.

In terms of the teaching style, Salford University is a vocational institution, which is a fancy term for saying we aim to teach in a practical manner. The teaching is split by lectures and tutorials, project work, directed study and one-to-one tutorials. With the assessment being 100% coursework based.

If you are working part-time, the best method for you might be to do the part-time course. This would make it easier for you with whatever work commitments you may have to slot university around that. The Part-time course would be 28 months long and not 1 year like the full time so this is worth considering.

The rest of your questions that I did not touch on I think would be best to bring to the Open Day I mentioned as a lecturer or current student would be the best person to speak to about this.

All the best with your application and if you have any follow up questions do not hesitate to ask.
