Eligible for free school meal but never applied or claimed it

Hi,

I am applying to Plymouth foundation year and one of the criteria is benign eligible for FSM or reviving FSM.

I was eligible for it as both my parent were reviving UC. And on UCAS I ticked No when it asked if I was in receipt of FSM as I wasn’t on receipt, but was eligible.

Would Plymouth email me and ask for proof to be submitted and in that case should I send in UC statements?

And would they accept UC?

I have called both the council and my school they both didn’t give me a letter and said as I never applied I am not on the system.

What should I do I do need the point to get offer.

FSM is a specific WP category / criteria and one that Unis will check via a central data-base. If you didnt claim it then you are not eligible under that criteria. All you can do is contact Plymouth and ask them if there is any other criteria that they would accept.

For Plymouth they do accept being eligible. Doesn’t state that I have to be in recipe of FSM. What would u advise .

Contact Plymouth.
Just called them and said I should email them and I did now.

I have attached a photo of the requirement for free school meal. Please could you look at it!

if it says “or being eligible” surely that means for those who didn’t apply for FSM but were eligible?

Right?

No, because it says "or eligible for". But you need to wait for confirmation from the uni.

I called the university today and asked about it. They told me it has to be from the time I attended college that the one I received during secondary school isnt what they want. Is this true?

Unis determine their own criteria, so if that is what they advised you then it's true.

I think it’s too late. They sent a task in their portal that said to post the proof that you meet the criteria and they even extended the deadline to the 6th of November last month. If you didn’t include this when submitting the proof, then it’s unlikely they would consider it even if you actually meet that criteria as it’s past the deadline. Best thing to do now is to call them and explain it to them
