Should I change my uni course options

basically my personal statement is about Vet Med, but I wanted to apply to some other courses (occupational therapy in the university of Liverpool). i asked them if they would accept an alternative PS and they originally said yes, but when i submitted it they said they cant accept it cuz OT is a very popular and competitive course. im not sure if i should risk it and not change my course. idk what to change it to tbh and i have 1 day to decide

Contact Liverpool asap (phone not email) and ask them if they will definitely reject you from the OT course or not. Can you remember who told you originally that they would accept it? If you have this in writing, then you need to tell them this. If it was only verbal (phone or Open Day etc) then sadly you don't have a case. Ask them which course they would consider you for - Vet Nursing? - and ask for a course switch if that appeals to you. Alternatively, yes if you are still within the 14 day period, you could substitute that choice for an entirely different course/Uni but check that you are not going to have the same PS problem first.

Hey! Don't worry, this happens to quite a few people. I f your PS is written for Vet Med, it's going to be really hard to switch to a course like occupational therapy without a major rewrite, especially as OT is competitive you would really want it to be specific.

I asked them through gmail and I sent them a screenshot of them saying they would accept an alternative PS. However they told me that they can't accept another PS for OT. I can't substitute my options anymore so Im just hoping for the best at this point

It depends on the uni, but for the majority of cases no as there are already too many applicants who have written their personal statement tailored towards occupational therapy (as they said to you it is very competitive). That being said if you were really upset about the rejection as you want to do it you can always take the year out!

It depends where your heart really lies. If it's not in vetmed then don't accept the offer for 5 years at uni and vice versa for occupational therapy (both courses require absolute commitment to that pathway to make it through as they are challenging). Each really does need its own personal statement which reflects your passion for it specifically so, if you loved occupational therapy, I'd tailor it to that next year. If you are really not sure where your passion is right now take the year out and assess it (really do consider the 'ugly' side of both professions and be comfortable with those before committing). It sounds like your interests are quite broad right now (which is wonderful but I understand it's annoying when applying). 🙂 x
