Econ research just got an email I have been placed on hold. Nice I can go to LSE now
They’ve already issued offers and holds. Should we assume, the rest will be rejected?

Anyone received an offer for MPhil in Finance? I have checked many discussions here and it seems like only offers for Econ were released so far.

I saw one post only but it looked like BS to me. I‘ve heard that last year, almost all offers got sent out in March and April. That was the case for 8 out of 9 people I talked to and the one offer that was given to someone early Feb was probably because of the profile. We are talking about a perfect GPA from a top tier university, BB IB and MBB as well as top PE internship experience, an additional 1-year research experience from T10 U.S. institution.

I don't think so. I think they're working their way through to decisions. Especially since it is still really early. Most people (Applying after Nov 18) should receive decision in March.

Probably not. Also, I just got email (not the automatic one). So they might still be sending emails. Also, it’s not reflected on my portal. In the email it says: “The final decision will be reflected on your Applicant Portal once this has been recorded.”

MSc Econ as well. 1st class Russel group uni. Top 5/400. Year long Industrial experience at a bank. Very strong references as well.

Could it be because I didn’t indicated my preference for any college? Or probably borderline application.

I am surprised you were put on hold. These stats seem solid.

I’m confused as well. I’ve seen some offer holders with seemingly weaker portfolios. It’s difficult to understand the assessment criteria.

At least for the MPhil in Finance: 6 out of 9 students I had contact with did not indicate college preferences.

For Econ research this year? Do you know someone who has got the offer? I wasn’t aware that they have given offers already.

I’ve seen a few inputs across different threads so far, but not many. Let’s see. I expect we should hear back within two weeks at most.

I asked the department if I was waitlisted because my application is borderline, or if they just want to review more applicants first while still making sure they got back to me by the February deadline.

They wouldn't comment on that, but they did say: “We aim to have this done between May and early July, however, further delays may occur. You may or may not receive a final decision before May, depending on the assessment process.”

That's a long wait and short turn around for making a decision. Especially if you have other potential opportunities

Good luck with whatever you end up doing!

We didn’t include a grade on the Statement of Skills form at the time of submission because the result hadn’t been released yet. Should we send it to the admissions team to update the application?
